Abstract

The article examines the scientific and methodological foundations for teaching ethnographic vocabulary in the Kazakh language. The study aims to develop a system of effective methods and tasks that facilitate the acquisition of ethnographic units from semantic, contextual, and linguocultural perspectives. The research draws on scholarly works in Kazakh language teaching methodology, regulatory documents, explanatory and phraseological dictionaries, as well as digital educational platforms. The methods employed include theoretical analysis, synthesis, description, lexical-semantic and contextual analysis, comparison, classification, and methodological modelling. As a result, basic, intermediate, and advanced levels of ethnographic vocabulary acquisition were identified. Appropriate techniques were systematised for each level, including dictionary-based work, textual analysis, project-based learning, cross-cultural comparison, and the «kiiz ui» and «puzzle» methods. An integrated set of tasks incorporating listening, reading, writing, and speaking was also proposed. The developed system is intended to expand students’ vocabulary, enhance their ethnocultural awareness and communicative engagement, and develop their ability to interpret national values through language. The practical significance of the study lies in the possibility of systematically applying the proposed tasks in Kazakh language lessons, elective courses, and students’ independent work.
