Abstract

The article provides a theoretical and practical examination of the nature and linguistic factors of the phenomenon of variability in Kazakh terminology. The concepts of terminological synonymy, terminological doublets, and variants are distinguished, and the causes of their occurrence (based on native words, parallel use of borrowings and translated equivalents, word-formation, and semantic techniques) are analyzed. The study substantiates that terminological variability is a natural developmental process of language; however, its regulation and standardization are crucial for refining the scientific and terminological system of the state language.
