Abstract

The article investigates the contribution of Alash figure and scholar Koshke Kemengeruly to the formation of the Kazakh scientific language and chemical terminology based on the chemistry textbook translated by him. It analyzes the specific features of translating subject terms and concepts, the utilization of the word-formative potential of the native language, and methods for systematizing the scientific apparatus. The results demonstrate the traditions of Kazakh scientific translation in the early twentieth century, principles of term coinage, and Kemengeruly’s conceptual views on establishing a national language of science.
